Frequently Asked Questions
This FAQ is here to answer the questions that tend to pop up before we start working together. If you don’t see your question here, you’re always welcome to ask directly.
Getting Started
How long does a typical website build take?
It depends on the package and the current client queue. A one-page Starter Scroll might take a few days. A Guildhall Grimoire or Fellowship Forge build might take a couple of weeks. You’ll get a personalised estimate when we send your quote.
Do I need to know anything technical?
No. You don’t need to know any code or jargon. I handle the technical work so you can focus on your goals. If you’d like to understand what’s happening behind the scenes, I can provide short training scrolls and walkthroughs as part of the project.
Can I meet you in person?
Yes. I’m based in Cork, Ireland, and I’m happy to meet locally or via video call. I’ve worked with clients across Ireland and further afield, so remote collaboration is very normal for me.
What happens after I send an enquiry?
You’ll receive a short onboarding message with a few questions about your project goals, constraints and timeframe. Once we’ve clarified the scope, I’ll send you a clear written proposal and quote — no hidden extras.
Packages & Pricing
What makes ASR Web Services different?
I build in a modular, documented way. Every site is designed so you can understand how it works, and another developer could pick it up later if needed. GDPR, backups and clarity are built-in foundations, not paid add-ons.
What’s included in each Scroll (package)?
Each scroll represents a different level of depth and complexity. Some focus on simple, calm brochure sites; others cover more advanced features like bookings, exports or e-commerce. You can compare them on the Services page or use the Scroll Estimator for a quick guide to ranges.
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes. Depending on the scope, payments can usually be split into 2–3 phases: a deposit, a midpoint payment, and a completion payment. Larger projects may use milestone billing so things stay fair and predictable for both of us.
Do you offer ongoing maintenance or updates?
Yes. That’s what my Scrollkeeper Support options are for. They can include monitoring, security patches, small content edits and gentle care over time, so you don’t have to carry everything yourself.
Technical & Compliance
Are your sites GDPR-compliant?
GDPR is treated as a core requirement, not an afterthought. Builds include privacy-aware forms, cookie and privacy policy support, and sensible data minimisation by default. If you need more detailed documentation for your records, we can provide that too.
Can you work with my existing domain or hosting?
Absolutely. I can connect to your existing hosting and domain, or suggest alternatives if your current provider is holding you back. DNS and SSL configuration are handled for you as part of the work.
What about email and contact forms?
Contact forms are wired to deliver messages reliably while respecting your privacy obligations. I can integrate with your own mailboxes (for example Titan Mail), or route messages via an ASR-managed relay system where your hosting doesn’t allow direct SMTP.
Do you offer backups or recovery options?
Yes. All builds include basic backups as standard, and higher tiers can include additional redundancy or backup locations. I also maintain internal continuity documents so that, in a worst-case scenario, your site can be restored.
Working Together
Can you help with logos, branding, or content writing?
Yes. I can provide light branding, layout and copywriting support if you’re starting from scratch or refining an existing identity. If you already have a brand kit or designer, I’ll build around that instead.
Can you collaborate with other developers or designers?
Definitely. The way I structure code and documentation is designed for handover and collaboration. If you have an in-house team, another freelancer or a designer you love working with, I’m happy to plug into that.
How do I get started?
The simplest way is to send a message through the Contact page. You don’t need a perfect brief — a rough idea of what you’re trying to achieve, who it’s for, and any deadlines is enough to start a conversation.
Still have questions?
If there’s something you’re wondering about that isn’t covered here, feel free to ask. I’d rather you have a clear picture than guess.
